from Walkman to iPod Nano...

so, i'm writing a paper and giving a presentation on portable music devices... anybody have a suggestion for a starting point? i was thinking about the Walkman, because i don't consider a boombox to be very portable.... looking for input, here!!

Walkman => Walkman Tapedeck => CD players => those cheesy little mp3 players with the little chip thingies that played 30 sec.s of N*SYNC => iPod => iPod knockoffs

did i miss anything? i'm sure i did, seeing as i basically made that up as i went.

yeah.... more research is definitely needed.

time for cough syrup and bed. cheers!

x-men for sure, baby

You'll never believe this: I was leaving the grocery store a few nights ago and a fellow, in his 20's or 30's, got on his bike WITH A GINORMOUS BOOMBOX SLUNG OVER HIS SHOULDER. You might be wise to start with this, as it was really common in the 80's to carry a boombox (or what we casually called "ghetto blasters") for portable music.
